Akhuwat Islamic microfinance (AIM), a company set up under “Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984” with the objective of providing interest-free microfinance to the impoverished and underprivileged members of the society so as to enhance their standards of living and enable them to improve their livelihoods. Drawing on the principles of social justice and brotherhood, AIM strives to alleviate poverty by creating a system based on mutual support in society.

AIM has adopted microfinance as its operational strategy with the loans being offered in accordance with the Islamic finance doctrine of Qarz-e-Hasan (interest-free loans). The organization operates through religious places and seeks to inspire and harness the spirit of volunteerism in society. The interest-free microfinance, although remaining the core program of AIM, is recognized as a means to an end rather than an end in itself.

ASA Pakistan Ltd. is a limited liability For Profit Company, incorporated under section 32 of the Companies Ordinance 1984 (XLVII of 1984) with Security & Exchange Commission of Pakistan “SECP” in March 2008. It has duly obtained a nationwide Business Commencement Certificate from SECP in July and commenced its Microfinance operation in September 2008. Keeping in view of the potential of microfinance products, and upon securing all due regulatory processes sponsors entered into Pakistan market with the active encouragement and support of the Board of Investment of the Pakistan Government.

ASA Pakistan is extending small amount of loans to poor and the down trodden segments with special focus to women in the backward areas who has no/less access to the traditional banking system due to lack of requisite collaterals. Through its microfinance operations ASA Pakistan is contentiously creating employment and business opportunities for the poor and contributing in the poverty alleviation efforts of the Government.

The roots of Damen Support Programme lie in a non-profit organization set up in 1992 by the name of Development Action for Mobilization and Emancipation (DAMEN) under Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860. DAMEN with its social sector programs initiated the micro credit program in 1996 on a small scale to develop the economic activities in the communities and with their own participation exclusively focusing women.

In 2015 Damen with the intention of having better focus on a core activity of financial inclusion, to create synergies with its social sector programs, bring in more donors & investors and to have greater access to funds from commercial banks, spinned-off its microfinance sector into a separate legal entity by the name of Damen Support Programme (DSP). DSP has been registered with Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) under section 42 of Companies Ordinance 1984 as a not-for-profit entity.

Jinnah Welfare Society (JWS) established in 1990 and registered on 28th March 1992. It is working with low income and unbanked people with the mandate to eradicate poverty. JWS contributes to uplift the literacy rate, improve the physical infrastructure and capacity development of the poor communities.

Jinnah Welfare Society has designed its Vision, Mission, and Objectives to establish a clear cut working methodology to alleviate poverty in target areas.

Kashf is registered as a Non-Banking Micro Finance Company which is regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.  Kashf was set up in 1996 as the first specialized microfinance institution of Pakistan and began operations as a Grameen replicator. Since then Kashf has successfully carved out a distinct and unique niche for itself in the microfinance sector at home and abroad by offering a suite of innovative and transformative products and services to low-income households especially women.

Kashf offers appraisal backed individual lending to its clients along with other non-financial services to have a transformative impact at the household level. Kashf believes in creating an enabling environment for women micro-entrepreneurs and is committed to creating products and services driven by client needs and demands which leverage on lessons from successful models from across the world.

Founded in the year 2000, Khushhali Microfinance Bank Limited (formerly known as Khushhalibank Limited) was a part of the Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan's Poverty Reduction Strategy and its Microfinance Sector Development Program (MSDP). MSDP was developed with the facilitation of Asian Development Bank (ADB). With its headquarters based in Islamabad, Khushhali Microfinance Bank (KMBL) operates under the supervision of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The mandate remains to retail microfinance services and to act as a catalyst in stabilizing the country's newly formed microfinance sector.

Mobilink Microfinance Bank Limited (MMBL) is Pakistan's largest digital bank with over 15 million mobile wallets. Backed by Global Telecom - VEON Co., MMBL started operations in April 2012 and launched branch-less banking operations under the brand name JAZZCASH in partnership with Pakistan's largest telecom operator JAZZ in Nov 2012.

Being a hybrid model that combines traditional micro finance with mobile / digital banking technologies, the bank now operates with 61 branches, 1,000 employees, a network of over 70,000 branch-less banking agents (growing) and a USSD (GSM) based digital channel in the country offering savings, micro enterprise (MSME) loans, small housing loans, remittances, collection (of utility bills and loan installments), mobile wallets, insurance, G2P, B2B & B2P payments and thus playing a leading role in promotion of financial inclusion.

Established in 1991, NRSP is the largest Rural Support Programme in the country in terms of outreach, staff and development activities. It is a not for profit organization registered under Section 42 of Companies Ordinance 1984.

NRSP's mandate is to alleviate poverty by harnessing people's potential and undertake development activities in Pakistan. It has a presence in 67 Districts in all the four Provinces including Azad Jammu and Kashmir through Regional Offices and Field Offices. NRSP is currently working with more than 3.3 million poor households organized into a network of 208,382 Community Organizations. With sustained incremental growth, it is emerging as Pakistan's leading engine for poverty reduction and rural development.

The Punjab Rural Support Programme (PRSP) was incorporated, in November 1997, as a company set up under section 42 of the companies Act, 2017.  The company's Registration Number is 0038557 and National Tax Number is 2290295-3. The main objective of the company is to develop the rural area, support and subsidize means, programmes, plans and scheme for rural uplift, socio-economic welfare including giving credit to persons having dealings with the company. 

It is currently operating in 20 Districts of the Punjab with the “Core” Program and through other interventions in Partnership with the Government(s) and certain Donors.  The “Core” Program activities are overseen by 3 Regional Offices located at Faisalabad, Multan and Sialkot. These three Regions operate the “Core” Program through 65 “Social Mobilization Teams” (SMTs) in 20 Districts.

RCDS is an NGO founded in 1995 and registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 in 1998. The organization is working in Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, Kasur and Fasialbabad districts and also in Southern Punjab districts of Multan, Layyah and Bakkhar. It is a community development entity that implements different programs at grassroots level aimed at attaining sustainable development.

As of June 2012, it has 24,104 active borrowers and gross loan portfolio of PKR 336.2 million

SAATH Microfinance Foundation (formerly SAATH Development Society) is a non-government, non-profit organization, established in February 12, 2004. The organization is registered under the Voluntary Social Welfare (Registration & Control) Ordinance 1961. SAATH visualizes ‘a socially equal and economically prosperous society where all the citizens enjoy their rights in peace and harmony’. SAATH commenced its microcredit program in October 2006 and is registered/incorporated Under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984 (XLVII of 1984) with Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan.

Since 2006, SAATH has been developing itself as Micro-credit expert practitioner organization. The program aimed at poverty alleviation at grass root level through different products of microfinance. Core experience of SAATH Microfinance Foundation is in various microfinance and livelihood interventions at community level.

Safco Support Foundation (SSF) originates from Sindh Agricultural and Forestry Workers Coordinating Organization (SAFWCO) which is a non-government and not for profit organization established in 1986 and registered in 1993 under the Societies Act XXI of 1860. After 25 years of delivering social development services and financial access to destitute of rural Sindh through integrated development approach, the Board of SAFWCO realized that immense technological and economic development has changed the scope of financial services. Microcredit and savings started by NGOs in eighties have moved to the next phases where financial inclusion, micro-insurance and many other innovations has broadened the scope of financial services and now Safco is serving as public company as specialized microfinance institution (MFI).

In the last seven years, SSF restructured itself to demonstrate how blend of service delivery and advocacy can help the organization become financially sustainable at operational level. Having completed years of development collaboration with client communities and public sector organization, SSF is looking towards building the micro finance operations into a banking system for the people, in coming years.

Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited, is the first scheduled microfinance bank in Pakistan. TMFB have a distribution network of 75000 agents and 176 branches nationwide. Telenor Microfinance Bank provides micro?finance and related financial services to the less privileged and unbanked segment of the society, with an aim to contribute towards poverty eradication under the Microfinance Institution ordinance, 2001.

In 2009, TMFB launched Pakistan's first mobile banking platform, Easypaisa, which now has the largest nationwide footprint. Since then, TMFB have embarked on an extraordinary journey of innovation to achieve financial empowerment for the masses on an individual level. With Easypaisa, the common man now has access to an easy and convenient avenue for all his financial needs.

Thardeep Microfinance Foundation (TMF) has its origins since 1998 as community loans provider. These loans were given out by Thardeep Rural Development Programme (TRDP) initially in Tharparkar, which extended to other districts in Sindh. By October 2016, TRDPs Microcredit programme had converted into an independent organization, registered under section 42 of the companies ordinance 1984. In persuading the SECP requirements, TMF sought NBFC License exclusively to perform as a financial service provider.

The goal of the company is to help unbanked/unserved micro-entrepreneurs increase their income through doorstep microfinance services without collateral. The company provides a variety of financial products to help equip clients with the knowledge and skills required to reduce poverty and sustainable development.

The First MicroFinanceBank Ltd, Pakistan (FMFB-P) was established in 2002 as a nation-wide microfinance bank, licensed by the State Bank of Pakistan. FMFB-P was created through a structured transformation of the credit and savings section of the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme’s (AKRSP), an integrated development programme to pioneer the microfinance sector in the country since 1982 in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral.

FMFB-P was established with the mission to respond to poverty and contributes to the social and economic well-being of society by providing opportunities to thousands of under-privileged households. Through targeted financial and multi-sectoral products and services based on the evolving needs of the poor, FMFB-P enables its clients to strengthen their entrepreneurial base and build financial, physical and human capital to secure their future

U Microfinance Bank Ltd. (U Bank) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) – Etisalat Company. The bank has a network of 132 touch points, across 70 cities and rural areas in Pakistan and offers a wide range of microfinance loans, deposit products, and branchless banking solutions. U Bank’s branchless banking offers services under the banner of U Paisa in collaboration with Ufone (Pak Telecom Mobile Limited). The service is offered at nearly 45,000 agent locations across Pakistan.

U Microfinance Bank firmly believe that access to microfinance services contribute significantly towards building a more inclusive society leading to bringing the underserved population into banking net as well as help document the informal economy. The product portfolio is designed to continuously create livelihoods for the underserved population of Pakistan and bring betterment to their lives.

Established in 2004 and registered with Societies Act 1860 since 2007, AGHAE is a not-for-profit organization contributing to sustainable development of the most marginalized segments of society through its core program areas of WASH, Health & Nutrition, Governance and Education. AGAHE’s struggle for sustainable development has provided millions of people including men, women, youth and children with access to adequate and equitable resources for improvement in their life through integrated approached for sustainable development.

On the other hand, AGAHE through its participatory approaches strives to create linkages of local populations to state departments as a means of bridging the gap between state and public. Gender Equality, Equity and Inclusion and Environmental Protection are cross-cutting themes with AGAHE for a balanced and enabling society.

AL-Mehran Rural Development Organization (AMRDO) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-religious, non-partisan, non-profitable social services providing organization. AMRDO was established in the year 1998 and registered under the Society’s Registration Act of 1860 and is PCP certified. AMRDO is working for the socio-economic empowerment of poor rural and underserved communities through participatory development initiatives in Sindh and Baluchistan.

Apna Microfinance Bank managed by Group of highly experienced bankers committed and specialized in providing financial services to less privileged / marginal poor including economic empowerment of WOMEN & micro-entrepreneurs in the Agri and Micro enterprises in rural areas of Pakistan. It is a private commercial Microfinance bank, currently licensed by the State Bank of Pakistan under the Microfinance Ordinance 2001 to operate its operations nation-wide.

AMFB aim is to create and perpetuate a culture of balanced approach for the development of market related competitive and innovative financial services. Introducing a culture of innovation and excellence with a view to find the acceptable solutions to real and conceived impediments for promoting a true micro financial regime.

Established in 1989, Community Support Concern (CSC) has for the last 28 years, been actively involved in identifying and resolving key social and economic issues faced by the most marginalized groups in society, especially women and youth.

As part of the organization’s social development program, CSC has made development interventions in Punjab’s underprivileged areas through projects that focus on improving Health, Education, Disaster Management, and Enterprise Development, with an underlying focus on Women Empowerment in each segment.

Farmers Friend Organization (FFO) is a development non-governmental organization that was established by a group of young committed people in 2003. Its initiation was a response to the increasing poverty and injustice prevailing in the society by its founder members.

The primary purpose and the basic cross-cutting theme of the organization is Community Development through an integrated approach. Following the same, it is working to facilitate the community development initiatives at grass roots level in rural as well as low profile urban areas of Sheikhupura, Nankana and Muzaffargarh Districts of Pakistan.

GBTI was established in 1995 for the rehabilitation of people affected by the Ghazi Barotha Hydro-power Project (GBHP).  It is registered under the Companies Ordinance, 1984. It aims for rehabilitation and development of villages and communities which were directly or indirectly affected by the Ghazi Barotha Hydropower Project (GBHP) targeting the affected villages in Attock (Punjab) Swabi and Haripur (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa).

As of June 2013, it has 4,842 active borrowers, gross loan portfolio of PKR 52 million, 919 active savers with value of savings at PKR 0.8 million.

NRSP Microfinance Bank Ltd. is one of the leading microfinance banks in Pakistan. It commenced its operations in March 2011 with a strong social mission to provide financial services to poor and marginalized clients including small and landless farmers. The Bank also offers quality banking services to its valued clients including Government and private institutions.

NRSP Bank adheres to internationally recognized Corporate Governance and prudent banking practices. This has enabled the Bank to double its equity within 5 years. As part of offering innovative products and services, the Bank is also privileged to be the 1st regulated provider of Islamic microfinance services in Pakistan.

Naziran Yousaf Memorial Trust (NAYMET) is a non-government, non-profit, non-political organization working for the social and economic uplift of deprived, neglected, oppressed communities in the urban & semi urban areas of Pakistan above the caste, creed, religion and other group boundaries. NAYMET was established in 2004 and registered in 2005 by a group of volunteers. NAYMET has initiated number of programs/projects aimed at the economic, social and political empowerment on sustainable basis of the disadvantaged sections of the society.

Under the umbrella of economic empowerment program, NAYMET initiated micro credit & enterprise development program in District Lahore. This program was leading to poverty alleviation and empowering marginalized, deprived, oppressed and neglected communities through Micro Finance.

OCT was established in 1987 and registered with the District Registrar of Karachi, Sindh. OCT is a concern of Orangi Pilot Project started by the renowned social scientist, Dr Akhtar Hameed Khan in 1980. OCTs objective is to make credit accessible to existing microenterprise units in Orangi and outside Orangi. Orangi Charitable Trust is the major provider of microcredit to the communities residing in Orangi, Karachi.

Micro Enterprise Credit Program supports small businesses set up by the people, mostly in their homes, settlements and villages. Credit for livestock and agriculture related work in villages is also provided. The program has expanded thru 68 partner NGOs to more than 40 cities/towns and about 2,198 villages (mostly in Sindh province).

ORIX Leasing Pakistan Limited (“OLP”) was established in July 1986 as a joint venture between ORIX Corporation, Japan and local investors. OLP commenced commercial operations in January 1987 and is listed on all three stock exchanges in Pakistan.

 

OLP offers cost effective value-added financial products and innovative customized services to a wide array of customers throughout the Country. The blend of international experience and local expertise acquired over the last 29 years provides OLP a distinctive competitive edge. OLP takes pride in the fact that it has played a major role in the economic development of the Country by supporting the Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Sector and in doing so, has created thousands of jobs both directly and indirectly. It has helped grow numerous small businesses into medium sized enterprises.

Pak Oman Microfinance Bank, inaugurated on May 21, 2006, in Pakistan on a nationwide basis, has been jointly sponsored by the Sultanate of Oman and the Pak Oman Investment Company. The bank is offering a range of micro credit and micro savings products and services and aspires to become an engine of job creation to the under privileged segments of our society.

Pak Oman Microfinance Bank Limited is a nationwide microfinance Bank with a paid-up capital of Rs. 500 million. Sponsors are Govt. Of Sultanate of Oman with shareholding of 67% and Pak Oman Investment company (a joint venture between Govt. Of Pakistan and Sultanate of Oman) with 33% shareholding.

 

Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) is a nonprofit company/ non-government organization registered under Company's Law, working in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and parts of FATA. It’s an intermediary organization which is based on the rural support programme (RSP) approach to community empowerment and economic and livelihood development. It was established in 1989 by members of the civil society, enlightened members of the government in their individual capacities, members of the academia, media and training institutions.

In 2007 SRSP also initiated a programme for community empowerment and economic development in parts of FATA. In recent years because of its vast outreach in the communities, SRSP has had to play a prominent role in disasters that have hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and as a result humanitarian work alongwith development has become a core competency of the organization.

Sindh Microfinance Bank (SMFB) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sindh Bank. SMFB got the NOC from State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and was incorporated with Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) on March 27, 2015 under Section 32 of the Companies Ordinance 1984 (XL VII of 1984). The bank has an initial paid-up capital of Rs. 750 million.

Sindh Microfinance Bank will focus on serving the under-privileged segment of society by introducing products easily accessible to those who are not able to avail banking services of conventional financial institutions. With the vision to empower women, SMFB will establish Service Centers providing credit facilities exclusively to women.

Established in 2003, the Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) is the major Rural Support Program in northern Sindh. It is a non-profit organization registered under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance 1984. SRSO is present in 9 districts of Sindh which include some of the remote and impoverished areas.  The mandate of SRSO is to alleviate poverty by harnessing the people’s potential and to undertake development activities in Sindh.

As of June 2012, it has 63,340 active borrowers, gross loan portfolio of 985.01 million, 40,304 active savers with value of savings at 6.04 million

SUNGI Development Foundation was established in 1989 by a group of visionary leaders spearheaded by renowned social thinker and activist Omar Asghar Khan. Since then Sungi has made credible and widely recognized efforts for social change and development of vulnerable communities. Being a leading development and humanitarian organization in Pakistan, Sungi works for bringing positive change in society by mobilizing deprived and marginalized communities and creating an environment in which communities would be able to transform their lives through equitable and sustainable use of resources.

Over the years Sungi has evolved into one of the leading rights-based development and humanitarian organizations of Pakistan; having Programme outreach in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Baluchistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Wasil Foundation, formerly known as CWCD, came into existence as a Non-Governmental Organization in 1992, regulated under the Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (Registration & Control) Ordinance 1961. Currently, CWCD is registered as a company under section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 by the name of "Wasil Foundation", and has successfully transferred its assets and liabilities to Wasil Foundation in 2012.

Since inception, Wasil Foundation is devoted towards the achievement of its objectives—poverty alleviation through enterprise development and the creation of value chains. The aim of the organization is to economically empower poor communities and facilitate them in developing their businesses through Micro Credit and Enterprise Development Programs. In 2009, Wasil Foundation (formerly CWCD) extended its operations from Conventional Micro-finance to Islamic Micro-finance and eventually discontinued conventional micro-finance in 2010, thus becoming a purely Islamic Micro-finance organization. Wasil Foundation has thus become the pioneer organization in Islamic Microfinance operations in Pakistan. Under Islamic Micro-finance, Wasil Foundation has successfully introduced five Murabaha, Sala’m, Istisna, Ijara and Diminishing Musharaka in the true spirit of Islam.

In 2004, a group of motivated activists and vibrant entrepreneurs from community organizations came forward and established a district level organization Badbaan Enterprise Development Forum (BEDF) with a clear approach to reduce unemployment and poverty through developing entrepreneurship programs.

BEDF, formally registered under Society Act 1860 (January 2006), as a non- profit civil society organization, working for the socio-economic uplift of poor and marginalized segments of the society with especial focus on the rural communities.

Islamic Relief Pakistan is an independent non-governmental organisation (NGO) founded in the UK in 1984 by a group of concerned postgraduate students. Islamic Relief started working in Pakistan in 1992 through a child welfare and protection programme and was registered in 1994 as a Company Limited by Guarantee under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984 and Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan.

Working in over 30 countries worldwide, we promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities to eradicate poverty, illiteracy and disease. We also respond to disasters and emergencies, helping people in crisis.

Micro Options Support Program is a non-Bank Finance Company established in June 2009 by enthusiastic group of young professionals and is mandated to provide Financial & development services to low income households in its target areas.

Micro Options Support Program (MOSP)is a Company registered under section 42 of Companies Ordinance 1984 and licensed by Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) as NBMFI working for Social and Economic Development in Pakistan.

                

MOJAZ focuses on progressively sustainable economic development through income enhancement and employment generation. Our Microfinance programme is geared towards achieving this objective. MOJAZ Foundation through an extensive process of social mobilization, need assessments and poverty scores focuses local rural needs and gaps. The challenges that poor are facing in the rural area are mainly access to finance, linkages with the market and opportunities for skill enhancement. MOJAZ Foundation designed its program and loan portfolio in the sectors those are relevant to the needs and have greater potential for the poorest.

The organization is running its microfinance program in Narowal with the financial support of Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund, ORIX Leasing Pakistan & Orangi Charitable Trust.

Organization for Participatory Development (OPD) was established in 1991 and registered under Societies Act 1860. It envisages development of a cohesive society and aims to raise the quality of life for the impoverished sections of the society. OPD primarily focused Gujranwala district especially urban slums of Gujranwala City and adjacent rural localities. Of late, it has started interventions in other districts like Sheikhupura and Khushab.

District Ghotki is located in the north of Sindh province, its boundaries sketched with Punjab Province in east, India south, District Kashmore and Jackobabad in north and District Sukkur in west. The District Ghotki is spread over an area of 6,083 square kilometers. The total population of the District is 1.30 million. 83.67% population lives in the rural area and 16.33% in the urban towns. The District is comprised of 05 Taluka/Tehsils and 40 Union Councils. The overall literacy rate of the District is 29.01%, male 44.21% and female 11.85%. 21.96% of the total area of the District is comprised of desert known as White (Achro) desert.

Major portion of the population is dependant upon agriculture, livestock and daily wage labor. The district is generally known as one of the most undeveloped districts of Sindh province. The district is facing different social and economical problems i.e. tribal system, poverty, karo kari issues, feudal system, low literacy among women, low agricultural produce, salinity, land degradation, human/women rights violation, women mobility, less learning opportunities, unemployment, etc.

The environment of the District is very conservative so there was a feeling for need of any civil society organization addressing above mentioned issues at the District. Looking these issues and conditions some dedicated educated and conscious villagers decided to establish an organization to address all these problems/issues by mobilizing local and national resources. They formed "village development organization" "VDO" on December 25th 1993. The organization is registered under Society Act XXI – 1860 Currently, VDO is working as a development organization and operating through out the district in particular and general in Sindh province

Shadab, a non-governmental, not for profit and voluntary development organization, came into existence in 2000 and registered under Social Welfare Agencies (registration and control) ordinance 1961 with registration No. {DSW (MPS)}VA/-64 in 2001. Since then she has been striving for sustainable development and betterment of marginalized rural communities of province of Sindh in general and of district Sanghar in particular.

Soon Valley Development Program (SVDP) is a small but emerging non-governmental organization active in Soon Valley, Naushahra Tehsil of Khushab District. It was established in 1996 & was registered in 2001 as a non-government organization. SVDP started its activities in microcredit in Oct’1996, with encouragement, technical support & line of credit (Rs.300,000) from late Dr. Akhtar Hameed Khan of OPP/OCT.
